Madame Webcast: All actors and characters

Madame Web will expand Sony’s Spider-Man universe. The film will soon be released in cinemas. Here’s everyone in the cast you need to know.

Ah, Madame Web – the most meme movie of 2024 yet. The Spider-Man spinoff (which is definitely not part of the MCU) caused quite a stir when its trailer dropped last year, when Dakota Johnson uttered the unexpected line: “He was in the Amazon with my mom when she was investigating like spiders, right? before she died.”

The man in question is the film’s villain, Ezekiel Sims, but it was Johnson’s awkward placement and deadpan delivery that caught the attention of the online community, leading to many memes – although the Madame Web star apparently got the memo has not received.

Of course, it’s all a joke, with some predicting that the SSU film, directed by SJ Clarkson, could fall into the “so bad it’s good” category. Plus, there are plenty of people in the cast to get excited about – so here are all the Madame Web actors and the characters they play.

Madame Webcast and characters

Before we get into it, the synopsis reads: “In a change from the typical genre, Madame Web tells the self-contained origin story of one of Marvel Publishers’ most enigmatic heroines.

“In this suspenseful thriller, Dakota Johnson stars as Cassandra Webb, a Manhattan paramedic who develops the power to see the future… and realizes she can use that insight to change it. Forced to face revelations about her past, she forges a relationship with three young women bound for a powerful destiny… if they can all survive a deadly present.’

Dakota Johnson stars as Cassandra Webb, who transforms into her alter ego, Madame Webb. First introduced in 1980’s Amazing Spider-Man #210, Madame Web is a psychic who can see into the future.

Julia Carpenter / Spider-Woman: Sydney Sweeney

Sydney Sweeney in Madame WebSony

Sydney Sweeney plays Julia Carpenter, the Spider-Woman from 1990s Marvel Comics, whose exposure to a cocktail of plant extracts and spider venom gives her many of the same powers as Spider-Man.

Julia is also the second person to take on the Madame Web title, meaning this could very well happen in the movie.

Sweeney is best known as Cassie in Euphoria. She has also appeared in The Handmaid’s Tale, Everyone But You and The White Lotus.

The Julia Carpenter and Mattie Franklin variants of Spider-Woman both made their big screen debuts in last year’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.

Ezekiel Sims: Tahar Rahim

Tahar Rahim in Madame WebSony

Tahar Rahim joins the Madame Web cast as the villain, Ezekiel Sims. As we learned in the trailer, he went to the Amazon rainforest with Cassandra’s mother while researching spiders… not that you needed reminding.

In the comics, Ezekiel is a mysterious figure connected to the Spider-Totem, which led to him taking on powers similar to Spider-Man’s. Due to his fluctuating age in the trailer, we previously speculated whether this could mean that the movie version has the option to extend his age. Either way, he demonstrates Spider-Man-like abilities, including clinging to walls.
